Blog-Walking Season

I love to write. I love to journal & communicate. I love God talk & meaningful faith conversation. Blogging has always been such a great outlet for me, an extra way to process & sort out life. And if it ministers to someone else, then that’s a bonus blessing.

But I don’t get to do it as much as I used to. I’m in more of a walking blog season. The majority of my communicating, processing, learning, encouraging & ministering is happening live & for real with the warm bodies on my path, mostly in my own home.

And you know, as much as I love blogging online, I have to say that I’m enjoying this less online season even more. I’m thankful for these moments to encourage and be encouraged by my husband & children, my church family, my kids’ friends & their families, the grocery store clerks (for my several times a week grocery runs to stock the pantry), and all the unexpected blessings & issues that arise as a result of engaging with them. I miss being more a part of the blogging community, but it just isn’t a blog hopping season.;) By the time I get back to it, blogs probably won’t even exist anymore. Everything’s always a changin.’

I hope you read this in the spirit which it is intended. This isn’t a pompous thing, or even an admonition for people to be online less, though sometimes we need that. There are seasons when online and live ministry exist hand-in-hand, & it’s entirely possible to keep priorities in order at the same time. I still get to spend small slices of time on my Facebook ministry page, and that’s a good outlet for now.

God’s Word says that the most important way for us to live is to love the Lord our God with all of our hearts, souls, minds & strength, & to love our neighbors as ourselves. For me right now, that means less blogging online, less submissions to magazines & publishers, fewer speaking events (though I take them if it fits the schedule), less blog hopping, even less time reading good books. But I look forward to slices of time to get the creative juices flowing and my typing fingers going. I actually appreciate those more than ever.

What season are you in right now & how is it keeping Him & others front & center? I’d love to hear, so please take a moment to share.

I have been in more of an online ministry season & miss the IRL ministry. Hoping to have a season of doing more IRL & less online soon.

I totally get this. Am figuring out what season I’m in. But now I only blog when I have something to work out in words. I don’t do it as part of a “platform”–which is the reason I started it. In fact, I may be over the business of building a platform. Which is maybe, in part, what you’re saying.
