“Early morning hath gold in its mouth.”
I used to like to sleep in…but God’s slowly been changing that for me. As I drive my daughter to early morning cross country practices, I enjoy the most magnificent skylines…with arrays of colors not visible the rest of the day.
I used to love sunsets…sunrises were for whoever those crazy people were that would actually miss out on a few more glorious hours wrapped under their comforters. I still love my sunsets, but a sunrise reminds me of God’s new mercies, His creation of a brand new day.
I used to loathe those chipper morning people. Ask my older sister if you need proof. But now I’m one of them, though I try not to force it on the sleepyheads. After all, I used to be one of them.
I used to say, “I’ll Never Be A Morning Person.” God had other plans. He’s revealing more of Himself to me, and He’s using the early morning hours to do it. My prayers are different. My time in His Word has changed. The order of my day has shifted.
So I guess all I’m try to share today, is never say you’ll never be a morning person. You might find yourself wishing you had been years before, like me.
In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.
Psalm 5:3, NIV
