I’ve Almost Worried the Day Away…

Friends, I’ve been worried about something today. For awhile, really, but especially today. It’s not a something I can share in the details, but I can tell you it’s gnawing at me.

I’m not prone to worry…but I must call it what it is…ugly, disgusting, joy-stealing worry.

As the Holy Spirit leads, I would love for you to comment with a Truth I could meditate on until this situation is over. My Lord is faithful, and He is good, and I want to focus on His character instead of my circumstances.

He led me to these selected verses in Psalm 89:1-18 for two days in a row, so I’m writing them and repeating them over and over:

“Your unfailing love will last forever.
Your faithfulness is as enduring as the heavens…
O Lord God Almighty!
Where is there anyone as mighty as You, LORD?
Faithfulness is Your very character.

You are the One who rules the oceans.
When their waves rise in fearful storms, You subdue them…

Powerful is Your arm!
Strong is your hand!
Your right hand is lifted high in glorious strength.
Your throne is founded on two strong pillars–righteousness & justice.
Unfailing love & truth walk before you as attendants.

Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship,
For they will walk in the light of Your presence, LORD.
They rejoice all day long in Your wonderful reputation.
They exult in Your righteousness.
You are their glorious strength.”

(New Living Translation)

Amen. I love Him. I truly don’t want to waste a milli-second of my life worrying. It’s ridiculous, and I know the Lord wants me to trust and obey. But I feel led to put it out here publicly so that my siblings in Christ can pray with me, encourage me or share a Truth the Lord leads you to post. Thanks in advance for lifting me up! Please let me know how I can do the same for you.

He is good!

LauraLee….so sorry you are struggling. God never said ours would be a life without them. You may have seen this verse around my sites, but I love it and want to share it with you today.

“Be astonished! Be astounded! For a work is being done in your days that you would not believer if you were told” (Hab 1:5 NRSV).

I love this verse and it gives me such hope not only for our country, but for us in our own, everyday lives. Be encouraged today and walk with God.

  2. Your post reminded me of the day my cousin found herself in the basement of her home crying. Everything possible thing had gone wrong that day. Her son was very ill, their car broke down on the highway, her husband had been asked to leave the church he was pastorng, and now the washing machine broke and water was pouring everywhere on the basement floor. She sat on the steps and cried. Then she got quiet and God gave her this song:

In the midst of trouble he sees me,
In the midst of trouble he hears me.
    I seek His face
    And I ask for grace
    In the hardest place
    As I run the race.
Though the sky be dark above me,
I am sure He’ll alwas love me.
    The heaviest burdens He gladly bears;
In the midst of trouble, He cares.

Her child wasn’t immediately healed, the car didn’t start right up,
the washing machine was still broken and the church board didn’t change their decision to ask him to resign. But she felt God pour His strength and His song into her and she faced each problem with prayer and purpose and soon the sky was bright again and the burdens were lifted.

I pray the same for you, my friend, that “the Lord will perfect that which concerneth you.” Psalm 138

    1 Peter 5:7 (The Message)

6-7So be content with who you are, and don’t put on airs. God’s strong hand is on you; he’ll promote you at the right time. Live carefree before God; he is most careful with you.”
or the familiar NIV version of this verse:

1 Peter 5:7 (New International Version)
7Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”

I’m casting with you. It’s hard not to worry.

  4. Joanne Sher says:

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it.
    1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

Love you, sweetie. You know I’m praying.
