I used to be able to remember everyone’s name…give me a phone number or a street address? Yep, I’m your gal. I was so good at math and numbers. Memorizing facts (as long as it wasn’t about dates in history) was my forte.
But for awhile now, it seems as though that gift is only a memory, pun intented. I blame it on having children. 😉
One thing I don’t ever want to forget, however, is the power that comes from the Word of God. If I concede to that notion, I’m doomed.
“For the Word that God speaks is alive & full of power–making it active, operative, energizing & effective; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) & [the immortal] spirit, & of joints & marrow [that is, of the deepest parts of our nature] exposing & sifting & analyzing & judging the very thoughts & purposes of the heart.” Heb 4:12, AMP
But I do forget, I’m ashamed to admit. I can become dull & lazy. And I know I’m not alone.
So I guess this is a gentle reminder, a bit of a nudge to myself & to you as well. Abide in Christ, the living Word. Dig into His Truth in private & examine it with other Christians as well. His goal in confronting us is to bring us into closer relationship with Himself. When we face our sin and our struggles in the light of His Word, provision and healing can come.
“For we do not have a High Priest who is unable to understand & sympathize & have a fellow feeling with our weaknesses & infirmities & liability to the assaults of temptation, but One who has been tempted in every respect as we are, yet without sinning.
Let us then fearlessly & confidently & boldly draw near to the throne of grace–the throne of God’s unmerited favor [to us sinners] & find grace to help in good time for every need–appropriate help & well-timed help, coming just when we need it.”
